OMG! Shoe Heaven!

WOO HOO!!!! my new shoes arrived today and they are BEAUTIFUL!!! I let out many excited shrieks at work when i heard they'd arrived and had to take them on a little tour of the building. My fellow pharmacist Sarah was particularly impressed. They are, as some of you may know, Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Lady Dragon Orb shoes and they are LUSH! Melissa shoes are made out of rubber and they smell delicious. yes, I know that's weird but they really do. They smell of Strawberry Shortcake dolls.

I also got these cool little ballerina flats, also made out of rubber. I've had a pair of heart Lady Dragons for about a year now and they are surprisingly comfortable. I've been desperate for a decent pair of flat shoes for yonks as all of mine are so trashed, but I never want to spend my hard earned pennies on boring, practical flat shoes. I love the pinkness of these though, and the all-over orb pattern.

This little badge also caught my eye (and was quite cheap so I could afford it!) Its a bad picture but it says 'Let it rock'. I really do adore Vivienne's rocky, just-don't-care-what-anyone-thinks attitude. I hope when I am old I am Vivienne-esque, although i suspect i'll be a lot more crazy cat lady.

Posh, lazy bento

This is not just bento, this is M&S bento...
I've been very lazy tonight and just bought a selection of bento friendly items to pack for lunch tomorrow. I think the mini bagels are super cute and perfect for a bento, although they are meant to be canapes. I have salad, crab and chilli, stuffed vine leaves, moroccan couscous, coleslaw, and a low fat chilli dressing. I really have to try and shift some of this extra weight i've gained before my holidays in September:(

Smiley Sunshine Bento

Again, I have been very bento boring recently :( I do apologise. My only excuses are a total lack of organisation and food in the house! Anyway, the sun has been out the past few days, so i thought i'd make a sunny bento (although its actually pouring down currently). Its rice, a mini hamburger, cheese and ham flowers with furikake in the bottle.

bento beans

My bento for Monday contains curry croquettes, parmesan spinach and leek, and turnip. I've also made some spicy wok fried edamame to much on. yum!

Weekend at the lakes

We have spent a very pleasant weekend at the Lake District with hubby's mum and her partner. They have a lovely holiday cottage in Bowness, and its very peaceful, aside from the large amount of Evil Swans. I swear they are plotting how to take over the world. Check out how brave the hubby is getting near to the swans when taking a photo. The dog in the photo is a lovely fat little Jack Russell who lives in a pub where we met up to have lunch. We ate some lovely food and drank some truly wonderful beer.

One Big Fat Cat

Greetings Fine Followers,
tonight I thought i would introduce you to my handsome kittycat, Christopher. As you can see, he is rather huffy, particularly when awoken from a particularly taxing nap. I love his white socks and paws, but he really doesn't like to have them squidged. I also adore his asymmetric white bit on his nose. He is ten years old now, and exceptionally spoilt.

little birds & bunnies bento

I've had a rather long day today, so tomorrow's bento has been made quite quickly. I didn't really plan what i was going to put in it before i started making it so the arrangement leaves a lot to be desired. It contains bunny pancakes, egg mayo bird wraps, mini oreos, muller rice, and fishfingers. Also, an inordinate amount of lettuce!

Cupcakes!

I was going to get my nails done yesterday, and as my appointment was in the afternoon I whipped up a batch of cupcakes to take into the salon for the staff. I didn't have many ingredients left in the house so i made it up as i went along, but i think they turned out quite nice and spring like. anyway, there was only one left by the time my nails were finished so they must have gone down well

Midnight Walk

Hello there good fellows,
I'm taking part in the St Oswalds Midnight Walk on the 3rd July. St Oswalds is a local hospice in Newcastle upon Tyne which does wonderful work... Please sponsor me with a penny or two if you would like.
Many thanks

Bouquet Cake

Presenting the bouquet cake I've been working for a few days for my Grandma's 80th birthday. We're going up to Dene House Farm, in the wilds of Northumbria for a lovely meal and a game of pitch and putt, although i'm not so sure my grandma will be impressed by that bit.
Dene House Farm is owned by my friend Monica's family- they have holiday cottages, a gym, swimming pool, and now a lovely little restaurant that does the most amazing food- highly recommended to anyone from the area, and fully worth going a bit out of the way for. Another star attraction is Nellie, the gorgeous old sheepdog who wanders about the farm and has the most beautiful calm nature.

Here's hoping its going to be a nice day!

Apologies for Absence!

Hiya all,
I heartily apologise for the absence of bento goodness this week. i've been busy working on a cake for my grandma 's birthday, added to lack of organisation when going shopping, and a slightly poorly kitty cat who had to go to the vets. To make up for taking you for granted, here's a bonus picture of a piglet in wellies.
yes, a PIG, wearing WELLIES!!!!!!!! i can't describe how happy this picture makes me. i think its made so much better by the fact they are red wellies as well. everyone needs a picture of a piglet wearing red wellies in their life!

Bento Monster

The bentos for tomorrow feature a cute little monster modelled on Domo. The breadcrumbed chicken is a bit too light for Domo and i should have given him rounded corners, but overall not too bad for a first go! (I suspect many more Domo-kuns may follow in the future- I heart him!) Domo is standing on furikake sprinkled rice with spring onion grass, and i have a spinach and watercress salad with bacon-wrapped asparagus (a clever way to fool the husband into eating some greens- disguise them as meat) topped off with cheese and pepper flowers.
